Services for Schools and Academies

Partners in psychology offer opportunities for organisational development, staff training, casework supervision, parent work, group work and individual assessment to support children and young people in their development in order to maximise future potential. We can support your development goals, offering learning, support and advice to parents and in working directly with the children and young people. Partners in Psychology work universally with all pupils applying psychology to learning and development in areas such as individualised learning programmes, motivation, exam stress and emotional resilience. Additionally they work with pupils with a range of special educational needs.


Assessment We might typically offer the following types of assessment :

  • Observation and consultation
  • Emotional and Behavioural assessment
  • Cognitive assessment
  • Language and communication assessment
  • Social communication and interaction assessment in consultation with other professionals where required
  • Literacy and numeracy assessments including dyslexia and specific learning difficulties
  • Memory and processing assessment
  • Mental health and emotional well-being assessment
  • Attachment and relationships

Advice and intervention

We can make recommendations for intervention following assessment and consultation.
We can offer support for children with a range of special educational needs including :

  • Autism
  • Attachment and relationship difficulties
  • Medical conditions such as Down’s syndrome
  • We can deliver group interventions for children presenting with a similar issue e.g anxiety, emotional resilience, development of selfhood and identity, thinking styles

Work with school/academy staff

  • Attendance, support and advice at review meetings and/or review meetings for individual children and young people
  • Drop-in consultation sessions for staff to discuss issues causing concern
  • Liaison between home and school to support the learning and development of children and young people
  • Support and advice in relation to exam access arrangements for children and young people.
  • Consultation on topics of interest, e.g. adolescence/teenage development, motivation, Autism/Asperger’s Syndrome, specific learning difficulties, anxiety etcConsultation in relation to behavioural concerns, e.g. making sense of children’s behaviour, observation of social peer dynamics, advice regarding teaching approaches and strategies

Training and organisational development

Training packages designed and delivered to suit the needs of your staff, school and parents – examples include:

  • Needs led training e.g. for all staff who are working with a child with a specific need
  • Whole staff training around particular topics e.g. ADHD, Autism, mental health, domestic abuse, dyslexia
  • Staff well-being workshops
  • Establishing staff supervision structures.
  • Team-building
  • Support and casework supervision for pastoral teams and staff working with children with special educational needs
  • Supportive consultation for Senior management teams such as applying psychology to organisational systems.
  • Facilitating problem solving e.g. PATH, solution circles, activity theory.
  • Training around staff management and school- parent relationships e.g. solution focused techniques
  • Organisational research and evaluation such as measuring the effectiveness of your curriculum or specific strategies
  • Whole school audit on a variety of topics such as mental health provision, gifted and talented, SEN provision.
